LinkedIn Set to Release APAC-Specific Insights From Inaugural Green Skills Report

ESG, Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, company responsibility to care world environment and people concept, business people touch light bulb with seedling green plant and governance gear

The report from LinkedIn looks at some of the key stats from the environmental and sustainability jobs market.

It aims to highlight the fastest-growing green skills, jobs and industries to bring professionals closer to the opportunities of tomorrow.

According to the insights taken from the report, Australia is one of the leading APAC countries in green hiring at 51 per cent – which is relatively on par with global trends.

The top sectors hiring green talent include construction, corporate services, energy and mining, public administration and manufacturing.

Additionally, the fastest-growing green jobs include:

  • Sustainability manager (24 per cent);
  • Ecologist (17 per cent); and
  • Geologist (15 per cent)

The energy and mining sector was among those that hired the most green talent in 2021 as the government’s $1.4 billion investment in renewable generation and storage, and adoption of a Renewable Energy Target (RET), bore fruit.

Despite these positive statistics, the future for green jobs is less clear in Australia, as the hiring rate in “greening” and “greening-potential” jobs was flat between 2016 and 2021.
