TikTok Launches A Refreshed Online Transparency Centre

TikTok is taking another step toward transparency and accountability with the launch of its refreshed online Transparency Centre.

The updated centre will house all of TikTok’s historical Transparency Reports as well as more interactive reports going forward.

TikTok’s Transparency Reports hold the platform accountable to guidelines, intellectual property and government agencies. This recent action safeguards the platform and protects its integrity.

Building trust with its community, TikTok began releasing reports in 2019 and has continued to evolve them with new, deeper and industry-first data disclosures.

These disclosures include items like the volume of suspected underage account removals made or the number of ads rejected for not meeting set standards.

The Transparency Reports include:

  • The Community Guideline Enforcement Report
  • The Information Requests Report
  • The Government Removal Requests Report
  • The Intellectual Property Removal Requests Report

These reports have come to fruition on the basis of feedback from civil society organisations and experts. TikTok’s refreshed report formats have put their collective input into action by introducing the ability to download data in machine-readable formats.

The reports will be published in 26 languages, which aligns with TikTok’s goal to make the Transparency Centre a one-stop shop to learn about how TikTok moderates and recommends content, develops products and safeguards personal information.
